Wendy Wu: Classified Affineur

Wendy WuA graduate from the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), Wendy Wu seemed destined for a corporate job. But a visit to a local cheese retailer prompted a career change.

After discovering her passion for cheese, Wendy worked at a local cheese shop where she educated herself on the techniques of cheese maturation. Keen to learn more, she spent a year in France where local farmers schooled her in the art of cheese production. In 2010, Wendy joined Classified as their in-house cheese expert.

 

Peter Lowe: Bakery Director

Peter LoweWith over 30 years’ experience, Peter Lowe knows dough. Originally from England, Peter started his career at a local supermarket in Sainsbury. He then moved to Le Pain Croistillant, a specialty bread manufacturer, where he was named Bakery Manager before being promoted to Senior Technical Support & Training Manager.

As Training Manager, Peter shared his expertise with 50 apprentices and would-be bakers. Peter’s vast experience also includes a period with Gate Gourmet, the world’s largest independent cater for airlines and railroads.

Joining the Press Room Group in 2010, Peter now oversees bread production and sales.

 

Kavita Devi Faiella: Wine Director

Kavita Devi FaiellaKavita originally set her sights on a career in pediatrics. But a holiday in Italy set her on a new path when she discovered a passion for wine and winemaking.

Returning to her native Australia, Kavita worked alongside some of the country’s most influential and celebrated chefs, including Neil Perry. After qualifying as a sommelier, Kavita worked as head sommelier of the Hilton property in the Maldives.

From the Maldives, Kavita was offered the role of Regional Cellarmaster for Aman Resorts. In this role, she spent two years working with Miami-based wine consultant Alejandro Ortiz and launching the new wine program for the 24 resorts.

In 2011, Kavita joined the Press Room Group as Wine Director and now oversees the wine selections and concepts in all of the group’s restaurants.

Kavita recently passed the theory component of her final Master Sommelier exam and now has to sit for the practical and tasting component. Upon passing, she will be both Asia and Australia's first female master sommelier.
